Causes of Bacterial Meningits
The main cause of most bacterial meningitis is viral infection. The virus that actually infects the body depends on age of the human, but the general causes include:
Fungi, Parasites, Drug Allergies, Tumors, and Chemical Irritation.
More specifically, in relation to age, the bacteria that effects the body is:
⁍ Newborns causes: Group B Streptococcus, Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes
⁍ Infants and Children causes: Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitidis, Haemophilus influenzae type b
⁍ Adolescents and Young Adults causes: Neisseria meningitidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae
⁍ Older Adults Causes: Streptococcus pneumoniae, Neisseria meningitidis, Listeria monocytogenesSymptoms

⁍Severe headache that isn't easily confused with other types of headache
⁍ Stiff neck
⁍ Vomiting or nausea with headache
⁍ Confusion or difficulty concentrating
⁍ Seizures
⁍ Sleepiness or difficulty waking up
⁍ Sensitivity to light
⁍ Lack of interest in drinking and eating
⁍ Skin rash in some cases, such as in meningococcal meningitis
